IT IS NO SECRET

The chimes
of time ring out the news
Another day
is through,
Someone
slipped and fell,
Was that
someone you;
You may
have longed for added strength
Your
courage to renew;
But do not
be disheartened,
For I have
news for you.
It is no secret what God can do;
What
He’s done for others He ‘ll do for you.
With
arms wide open He’ll pardon you
It
is no secret what God can do.
There is no
night, for in His light
You never
walk alone,
Always feel
at home,
Wherever
you may roam.
There is no
power can conquer you
For God is
on your side.
Just take
Him at His promise
Don’t run
away and hide.

Carl Stuart
Hamblen 1908-1989
Carl Stuart
Hamblen was born on October 20, 1908, Kellyville, Texas.
He was a
well-known radio host, comedian and songwriter in Hollywood. One of
his bigger hits at that time was "I won't go hunting with you
Jake, but I'll go chasing women". He was noted for his
drinking, partying, etc One day in
1949 Hamblen
happened to attend the revival meeting conducted by Dr. Billy
Graham. In the service the preacher announced, "There is one
man in this audience, who is a big fake.”
Hamblen was convinced that he was the one the preacher was
talking about. The words continued to haunt him until a couple of
nights later he showed up drunk at the preacher's hotel door around
2 am.
He demanded the preacher
to pray for him. But the preacher refused, saying, "This is
between you and God and I'm not going to get in the middle of it”.
But he invited Hamblen in and they talked until about 5 am at which
point Hamblen dropped to his knees and with tears, cried out to God.
Hamblen
got relived from drinking, chasing, and everything that was
"fun". Subsequently he lost favor with the Hollywood
crowd. The radio station fired him when he refused to accept a beer
company as a sponsor. Subsequently he had to face many hardships.
He gave up his radio and
film work and publicly announced that he was devoting his life to
Christ
As
his struggle continued, one day, an old friend John Wayne called on
him and told him, “all your troubles started when you got
religious" and asked if it was worth it all. Hamblen answered,
"Yes". Then John said, "You liked your booze so much.
Don't you ever miss it?" And Hamblen answered "No".
John then said, "I don't understand how you could give it up so
easily." Hamblen’s response was, “It’s no big secret. All
things are possible with God." To this John said, "That's
a catchy phrase. You should write a song about it." This lead
Hamblen write this song "It Is No Secret what God can do".
Stuart lived with his
wife, Suzy on their horse ranch in Canyon Country (Los Angeles), California. In
1952, he ran for American president under the banner of the Prohibition
Party. He ran 4th to Dwight D. Eisenhower.
He was inducted into the Country/Western Songwriters Hall of Fame in
1970, and the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
Carl Stuart
Hamblen died of brain cancer on March 8, 1989, Santa Monica, California
and was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Los Angeles, California.
"WHEN
YOU SEE ME FALL ASLEEP, SAY AMEN BUT DON'T YOU WEEP. I'VE GOT SO
MANY MILLION YEARS THAT I CAN'T COUNT THEM." -Stuart
